Day Trip to Trefor Pier on Saturday 8th July 2017

This is a very handy site for divers and ideal dive spot for someone doing their first UK dive, as it is safe and easy to manage. Parking is close by with a very short walk to the steps. The main wooden pier is off limits but there are occasionally some people fishing nearby so need to be careful not to get too close to any fishing lines/hooks.

After descending the steps it is a short swim around the breakwater before you reach the wooden structure. A very short descent and you find yourself in an eerily pretty landscape with the sun being blocked each time you swim under the main deck of the structure.

The stanchions of the pier are covered in life with spider crabs, anemones, hydroids and star fish. The actual dive site under the pier is very short so you must take a good torch and proceed very slowly examining every inch as this is British Micro diving. The fallen metal work is ideal cover for the many blennies, pipe fish, prawns and lobsters. You also spot Pollack, wrasse, Poor Cod, Tom pot blennies and dog fish.

There are some picnic benches available and as we intend to make a day of it I’m suggesting we take picnics and/or BBQs to make a nice fun day out.

Please contact Elaine if interested
