PORTHKERRIS 4-7 JULY 2014
Thanks to Steve for arranging the trip to Porthkerris. No getting up for early dives this year, the downside being it was a bit of a rush to be ready for the evening meals (Saturday in the Greenhouse and Sunday in the White Hart - both St Keverne).
Friday: The keen ones did some shore dives whilst some of us arrived a bit later in the day. We all then met up in the evening in the Three Tuns.
Saturday: On the Kitten. Dive 1: RTG 11.45 to catch slack water. 12.15 - Vase Reef. Pick your depth. Some managed to get a deeper dive in preparation for Scapa Flow.
Dive 2: RTG 16.15. 16.55 The Volnay. 19.5m
Sunday: This year we went out on the 'Celtic Cat' for the day, enabling us to go further afield and do dives we hadn't done before, namely the Carmarthen (at 2pm) 22.6m and Black Head Reef (at 4.15pm). The latter was a lovely, gentle drift southwards in the late afternoon. We managed a time of 35 minutes to a maximum depth of 22-23m with good visibility.
Monday: Earlier, but not too early. On the Kitten again. 9.40am on the Mohegan. 22.9m
The weather was fairly kind apart from the occasional short, heavy shower.
